PIA 2010 Winner
The new Dopplex Ability product from healthcare company Huntleigh is designed to enable blood pressure testing by the ankle brachial pressure index (ABI) method in three minutes, as compared with the current 30 minute turnaround.
In development work on the hardware for Huntleigh, PP Injection Moulds and Mouldings addressed several issues and offered suggestions for streamlining manufacture. For instance, through a fundamental redesign of the rear case moulding of the test unit, PP resolved some unforeseen issues such as large bosses, which could have caused problems. Huntleigh described the change as 'an eye-opener', with the new design more straight forward to tool.

New Engel 120 Tonne Tiebarless Press
We have purchased a new Engel 120 tonne tiebarless press due to the launch of our new D4 & GM welded valve plate assemblies. There are 5 new tools that are going to be run in this press that will take up approximately 40% of its capacity.
Since our other Engel presses are now completely full, this allows us to support the new project and also keep spare capacity in reserve to allow us to grow & to quote other packages of business, and have capacity in reserve to cope with spikes in production, maintenance or breakdowns.
P&D have employed tiebarless Engel technology for many years since it allows us to design & run complex tools with lots of moving parts without the limitations of tiebars on the press.
