Maria joined Avon Group in 1995 as a Sales Administrator.

Customer Service care was the key to building the future and that was installed from the very start of her journey.

Over the years, Maria has worked her way through all departments of the business, from Production to Purchasing, Administration and Sales.

Maria helped with the move to larger premises, taking on more staff and building its success by supporting the increase in growth with good customer relations, service and quality of product.

Ashok is a qualified CIMA professional with vast experience in the field of Manufacturing, distribution and treasury. He is experienced in multi – site operations including manufacturing facilities in Europe and US. He also has significant knowledge in mergers and acquisitions. This has been put to use since joining the Group.

Alistair Gibson

Finance Controller

Alistair qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London and has worked for PwC, Ernst & Young and KPMG in a variety of specialisms in London, Sydney, Glasgow and Bristol.

Alistair has also gained considerable experience in commerce holding senior positions in manufacturing, engineering, telecommunications and publishing companies as well as working in the charity sector.

The small Finance Team at Avon Group enjoys working closely with other departments, developing and improving the productivity measurements critical in ensuring sustained commercial success.

QHSE Manager

Dave joined Avon Group in 2004 when Precision Cut Rubber Ltd. was purchased. Dave has a strong automotive quality systems background and a wealth of experience, having worked for a number of tier 1 & 2 automotive supply companies and has used this experience to assist most of the Group companies in the development of their quality and environmental management systems to meet the requirements of international standards ISO9001, ISO14001 and TS16949. Dave’s current role is QHSE Manager at Bristol.

Quality Engineer

Andrew Warren Joined Avon Group as a quality engineer in the spring of 2016.

Reporting to and working alongside the site QHSE manager, Andrew brings a great deal of enthusiasm and fresh drive into the business. He has previous oil and gas, automotive and aerospace quality inspection experience and is also working towards completion of a BSI QMS Diploma.

Technical

With over ten years’ engineering experience, Scott can assist with all technical questions and support, from choosing the correct materials for the application to selecting the manufacturing method that offers the required accuracy to cost ratio.

Scott has been with Avon Group for over eight years and, in this time, has become familiar with all Gasket materials, Rubbers and high temperature Insulation materials as well as their applications and suitability.

You can call on Scott’s expertise whenever required, regardless of the size of your project and assistance can be offered either remotely via phone and email or on your own premises.

Andy Penton
 

Andy Penton

Operations Director

Andy joined P&D in 2002 as Sales Director. His career in Polymers began in the late 70’s where he joined Avon Tyres as a technical trainee from school. After gaining a qualification in Plastic and Rubber on this program in 1983, he went on through a variety of R&D technical roles to his first technical Sales position in the late 80’s. Andy worked his way through Sales and Account management roles at Avon Tyres covering offshore Oil exploration, Defence, and Automotive products until finishing his service as European Automotive Sales Manager. After this he worked at Kongsburg Automotive as European Sales Manager for fuel lines before joining P&D.

Andy was appointed Opreration Director for P&D in 2005 after it was acquired by Avon Group.

During his tenure, he has striven to maintain a family atmosphere at P&D with the help of its owner. He has also ensured that the company aims to stay at the cutting edge of technology by developing pioneering techniques for welding and assembly in conjunction with customers and suppliers.

Troy Roberts

Production Manager

Troy has over 20 years experience in the rubber and plastic moulding industry. Starting on the Shop Floor at PCR in 1992, he worked his way up from Cryogenic Deflashing (Freeze Trimming) and Despatch, to the Mould shop where he became Leading Setter. With a keen eye for detail and a proactive and forward thinking approach, he was soon promoted to Mould shop manager.

Since joining P&D in 2008 and becoming Production Manager, Troy has increased his knowledge of planning and production procedures. Building firm relationships with customers and suppliers, and managing the day to day running of a busy manufacturing environment, Troy has firmly established himself within the P&D organisation.

Sonia Barata

Projects/production assistant

Sonia was based at PCR and was a Shop Floor Operative specialising in machine cut brake master Seals. Sonia transferred to P&D in 2008 when PCR’s process and business was transferred out to other parts of the Group.

In 2014, Sonia realised a lifetime ambition to switch into an administrative office based role as Project/Production Assistant.

Since taking on this newly created role, Sonia has rapidly grown to make herself invaluable to both Production and Project departments in P&D and has also commanded respect from both suppliers and customers alike. She continues to write her own training programmes and is currently engaged in studying for a Project Management qualification.

Roger Comley

Quality Manager

Roger joined PCR (Precision Cut Rubber company) in 1987 as a Shop Floor Operator. He worked his way up to Setter-Supervisor for Lathe cut Gaskets over the next few years. After this time Roger showed talent for all things to do with measuring and recording and specialising in SPC.

Roger came to P&D as Quality Manager in 2006. Since that time, Roger has developed as a highly valued member of the team providing robust solutions to issues and honing and developing all of our quality standards and procedures. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of standards and procedures relating to the key Automotive standards that we work to and constantly strives to update and improve processes.

David has been in a Production and Manufacturing environment for over 29 years, the last 14 in Production and Operations management. Working overseas for several years running Operations and Production for Trans Tasman manufacture, he moved back to the UK in April 2014 and joined the Group in August 2014.

Production Manager

Hayden has been in the Plastic Moulding environment for over 20 years. He has been working his way up from the roots within the company to now become the Production Manager. He also has a vast knowledge of the Injection Moulding process and his experience with many plastic polymers along with his technical knowledge of Tool design make him one of the best in the business.

Product & Design Manager

Avon Group offers an in-house Tool-making operation using our range of CNC machining centres, CNC EDM and CNC wire die sinking machines. The Tool making operation ensures that the seamless link between Design and Production is focused on precision and quality. This is key to the final production of high quality, low cost mouldings.

Manufacturing & Operations Director

Kevin has held the position of Manufacturing and Operations Director at Avon Engineered Rubber since 2012 leading the company to success. Introducing Lean manufacturing techniques and transforming the site in all aspects from 5s through to QCDP (Quality, Cost, Delivery) and forming a strong partnership with the customer base. Including a rapid expansion / investment and introducing state of art manufacturing equipment, resulting in the ability to compete Worldwide in delivering high quality products at the right price. Kevin is a seasoned Manager of Operations starting his career with HPP back in 1981, producing Rubber Automotive products to a high standard working his way up to Factory Manager, understanding the business inside out. He then re-educated in Management Resource and Lean manufacturing with Industry Forum, developing his skills to enable him to take charge and bring several companies into the 21st century.With his latest challenge, AER LTD, and with the backing of the stake holder Mr Mark Rushin, he has been able to achieve success beyond all expectations.

Michael has worked over 40 years in the Rubber Industry in senior Technical Management roles. Extensive knowledge of the Automotive, Aerospace, Pharmaceutical and Aerosol Technologies. All disciplines within the Technology are covered and under his control.

Account Management and Business Development

Sian has been with Avon Group since 2011 as a member of the Customer Services team. Sian has gained knowledge and experience within the company and is now responsible for Key Account Management and Business Development

Carl Gosley

Engineering Manager

Carl has over 18 years’ experience in the Rubber industry, after graduating in Mechanical Engineering in 1995. First role after graduating was in the Design offce on Tool and Product design. This grew into product testing and development, working now as Engineering Manager since 2008. He has gained a wealth of experience in the Automotive/Rubber industry from working with OEM and Tier suppliers on projects ranging from full design and development projects to product launch. Since the acquisition of the Aerosol business in 2008, Carl has taken on this demanding market sector, appreciating the requirements it brings on the supply chain from new material development and legislative changes. He now looks to the future after the investment AER have undertaken to ensure we can continue to grow and compete in the global marketplace.

Lance joined AER in the spring of 2012 as a Quality Engineer bringing with him a background in Engineering and Product development, from blow moulding and injection moulding production in the UK and Middle East. Having progressed rapidly within the department, he currently holds the position of Quality Manger at Maerdy. He has built strong relations with our main customers through regular face to face meetings, across the UK. A believer in a team working ethic, and has driven the 5s standards that we see across the plant, which now has a World class pedigree. Lance consistently put himself in the position of the customer to ensure that production and quality work harder together to achieve the highest standards possible.

Simon joined AER in November 2014 as Manufacturing Manager to drive production performance in line with the business key performance indicators, using Lean manufacturing techniques and engaging with personnel at all levels within the business to foster a good team environment. Simon has been in manufacturing for 26 years starting as a Tool maker then onto Management positions. Simon’s background is in industries such as Automotive, Aerospace, Pharmaceutical and Fast Moving Consumer Goods. Simon’s ambition is to excel in leading and developing teams by aiming for continuous improvement in all relevant areas, resulting in excellent business performance and becoming the preferred supplier.

Lee joined AER in April 2016, he has 22 years’ experience within group having started work at Avon TSA in 1995 as a production operative, working his way through all departments of the business from Production Scheduling to QA Manager, a position he held for 14 years, before moving across into the Sales Department. Further opportunities arose for Lee that allowed him to progress to Sales Manager here at AER.

Colin began his career at AER Stafford as a Stores Operative, quickly progressing to Store Manager. Further progression saw Colin become Procurement Clerk, until he finally took over the reins of Purchasing and Supply Manager. He is well travelled in his work and has vast exprerience in LCC sourcing, providing low cost, high quality products from his supply base.

NPI Chief Administrator

A highly intelligent young individual who gained a BA in English and American Literature from Keele University. Julia started at AER Stafford in a junior Projects Administration role. After the Projects Manager, at the time, left the business, Julia was keen to take on the extra responsibility and workload and quickly became a lynchpin for internal support for the growing Sales team.

Julia now has a small accomplished team reporting to her in her role as NPI – Chief Administrator.

Initially employed as CI Manager and Manufacturing Manager at AER Stafford before taking up the role of Operations Manager. Effective change agent and experienced General / Operations Manager having worked previously in the Galvanising, Textile and Automotive industries. Qualified IIM – Institute of Industrial Management, to Certificate and Diploma level and City and Guild in Mechanical Engineering.

IT & Estimator / Cost of Sales

Peter joined the Group from college and started work as a Stores Operative. He quickly developed taking control of Goods Inwards Inspection before moving into Office Administration with the role of Procurement Clerk. Peter then took on the role of IT and CAD control and support, before making the natural progression into Chief Estimator – taking on the responsibility of all customer costings and quotations, as well as monitoring and assisting with the development and improvement of cost of Sales. Along the way, Peter became a Nebosh qualified Auditor.

Sales Director

Andrew’s early years at TSA included Tool making and general engineering. Through continual  improvement, Andrew then took on the role of Quality Control Supervisor and then progressed on to Management roles.

Further opportunities arose for Andrew that allowed him to progress to Sales Manager, then a promotion to Sales Director followed – the position he holds today after 28 years of service.
